Home-Start Japan
Home Start Japan, founded by Dr. Yasuyuki Saigo, began in 2008 after he observed the program in the UK. Despite Japan’s lack of a volunteer home-visiting tradition, Home-Start quickly expanded to 98 schemes by 2017, with over half supported by local municipalities. The program adapts the Home-Start model, focusing on solving specific problems like isolation, parental emotional health, and child development. Home-Start Japan also responded to the 2011 earthquakes with revival projects. The rapid growth necessitated extensive training, and in 2016, the program received a Cabinet Minister Award for its impact on family welfare
