Home-Start in France – Paseo
Association Paseo, a Home-Start scheme in Nîmes, France, was established in 2006 by Laurence Relin, who was trained as a Home-Start volunteer in London. The scheme focuses on integration and empowerment, particularly for families from North Africa and Mayotte, many of whom face language barriers and have large families. Paseo provides one-on-one support and organizes group activities like weekly playgroups, school support, computer training, and family outings to enhance social inclusion, well-being, and autonomy. The scheme also organizes a biannual community event, “La Rue aux Enfants,” in partnership with local associations. In 2017, 31 volunteers supported 18 families and 79 children, with funding from both municipal sources and national foundation
