Home-Start in Canada Quebec was launched in 1989, inspired by the UK model. Margaret Dutie, a social worker, initiated the first scheme south of Montréal, with strong support from the Home-Start founder, Margaret Harrison. Initially run by volunteers, Premiers Pas Québec became the National Office in 2007, supporting 10 schemes across Quebec.
Currently the programme is being run by Premiers Pas Champlain
