Home-Start Greece was established after a chance meeting between Tanya Barron, CEO of Home-Start International, and Evi Hatzivarnava, then director of the Institute for Social Protection and Solidarity in Greece. Launched with pilot schemes in Thessaloniki and Volos, Home-Start Hellas was officially founded in 2008. The organisation has its base in Piraeus, providing home-visiting services and other support activities, and collaborating with local authorities. In 2023, they served 14 families with 56 children, while another 50 parents and children participated in group activities organised by Home-Start Hellas . Home-Start Hellas also organises parental groups and seminars, engages in national child protection initiatives, and has recently focussed on fund-raising strategy and developing online data information.
