Home-Start Malta was established in 2006 with the support of Agenzija Appogg, Malta’s national social welfare agency. Initially targeting families in the inner harbour region, the program expanded across Malta and in 2012, a second scheme was launched in Gozo. Training and support from Home-Start UK and Scotland were instrumental in the development of the Maltese office. By December 2017, the two schemes had 22 active volunteers serving 34 families, and over 300 families had been helped since inception. The programs are primarily funded by the Ministry for Family, Children’s Rights and Social Solidarity, with additional support from sponsors.
